Europe needs HD

HD will be a requirement to maintain European competitiveness, according to a EU-supported conference. But big investment challenges lie ahead Europe’s public and private sector got together to talk about the subject at The European HDTV Conference in Luxembourg on June 7. The event was initiated by the Luxembourg Presidency of the European Union with the support of the European Commission and took place in the newly HD-equipped Utopolis Cinema in Luxembourg. The aim of the event was to promote European initiatives in HDTV. Representatives of leading companies shared their viewpoints on strategic issues, stakes and opportunities for high definition television in Europe: Alfacam-Euro 1080, Studio Canal, Tandem Communications, EBU, Tandberg Television, Thomson, Philips Electronics, Digital Interoperability Forum, Sony Europe, SES ASTRA, Premiere, Groupe Canal+, UPC, Autorità per le Garanzie nelle Communicazioni, CSA, OFCOM.

The European HDTV Conference took place on 7th June, 2005 in Luxembourg, initiated by the Luxembourg Presidency of the European Union with the support of the European Commission. The one-day high-level conference took place in the newly HD-equipped Utopolis Cinema, in Luxembourg. 300 Government Officials & Senior Executives at Exclusive HDTV Event The aim of the event was to bring together the public and private sector to promote European initiatives in HDTV. The conference gathered top-level government officials from 25 European countries and senior executives from the commercial sector to discuss stakes in the HDTV sector in Europe.
